ALIROW

ALIROW is an active association of independent Learning In Retirement (LIR) associations whose member directed activities are generally located on campuses of sponsoring universities and colleges of the Western United States.

Our Council members meet periodically to exchange information and to learn the skills and requirements needed to insure the successful operation of the individual campus organizations.

All officers and delegates serve as volunteers. There is no paid staff. ALIROW is supported through nominal dues.

Formally organized in 1984 we are the first umbrella organization to support university level, self-directed learning institutes for the retirement age learners. ALIROW supports those educational objectives of all national associations related to learning in retirement.

Our goal is to cooperate with all in the academic community who support this rapidly growing movement.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide useful information regarding the LIR movement, including materials, to help Starting Groups organize or to expand existing programs.

We accomplish this with conferences, workshops, experienced speakers,
ALIROW Publications that meet the needs of LIR groups, and a corps of active participants who act as "resource persons" for new groups.
